Robert Covington is a Partner at RedBird Capital Partners, where he is responsible for RedBird’s Technology and Opportunistic related investment activity.

Robert led RedBird’s investments in Compass Datacenters, a leading wholesale data center developer, specializing in customized build-to-order solutions for enterprise, cloud computing and service provider customers; N3, an outsourced sales and marketing company focused on cloud services; Majority Strategies, a political advertising and marketing business driving constituent influence; and Avmont, an asset manager specializing in purchasing of whole-life insurance policies. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Compass Datacenters.

Robert has over 20 years of experience assisting entrepreneurs and families build their businesses with a specific focus in the Southern U.S. region. Before joining RedBird in 2014, Robert spent six years as a Managing Director of The Stephens Group, LLC, a private equity firm investing the capital of the Stephens family, one of America’s longest tenured private equity investors.

Prior to his time with The Stephens Group, Robert was a Partner at SSM Partners, a private equity firm focused on expansion stage technology, business services and consumer services companies. Before SSM, Robert was the Founder and CEO of Firstdoor, now part of Infor, where he built and directed a seventy-person organization that was one of the earliest “Software as a Service” business models.

Robert received his B.S. in Natural Sciences and Mathematics from Washington and Lee University and his Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Yale University. He is a current member of YPO as well as on the board of Serve West Dallas.
