Gerry Cardinale

Managing Partner

Gerry Cardinale is the Managing Partner and Founder of RedBird Capital Partners, a private equity investment firm that brings together entrepreneurs and family offices to make growth equity investments in partnership with business founders who have a proven track record of success.

Gerry has had a 25-year career investing in Sports and Media, most recently leading RedBird’s investment in On Location Experiences. Gerry has also led RedBird’s investments in TierPoint, Zenith Shipping and Ampler. He currently sits on the boards of On Location Experiences, Zenith Shipping, TierPoint, Ampler, Aethon United, Tally Energy Services and Lambda Energy Resources.

Prior to founding RedBird, Gerry spent 20 years at Goldman Sachs where he was a Partner of the firm and a senior leader of the Merchant Bank's private equity investing business, which managed over $100 billion of private capital across equity, debt, real estate and infrastructure investment strategies. During his tenure, Gerry helped create two multi-billion-dollar sports-related businesses – the Yankees Entertainment & Sports ("YES") Network and Legends Hospitality. Gerry currently sits on the boards of the YES Network, as well as Yankee Global Enterprises ("YGE").

Gerry is a Trustee of Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City and leads one of the multi-state selection committees that awards Rhodes Scholarships each year.  Gerry received an Honors A.B. from Harvard University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and an M.Phil in Politics and Political Theory from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
