Massimo Calvelli is the CEO International of RedBird Development Group and an Operating Partner of the Firm. In this capacity, he works closely with RedBird’s leadership to drive international growth and the commercialization of the Firm’s sports, media and entertainment portfolio.
Massimo brings over two decades of enterprise leadership, brand development, operational excellence and stakeholder engagement experience across global sports and consumer sectors. Prior to joining RedBird, Massimo served as Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) from 2020 to 2025, where he led a global transformation of men’s professional tennis through strategic initiatives including OneVision (the ATP’s long-term strategic plan), new governance structures, and the creation of Tennis Data Innovations (TDI), which he also led as interim CEO. During his tenure, the ATP achieved five consecutive years of double-digit revenue and profit growth, forged a landmark partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), and launched the sport’s first-ever sustainability platform as part of its ESG strategy.
Prior to ATP, Massimo spent nine years at Nike in various leadership roles. As Nike’s Global Sports Marketing Director, he oversaw athlete partnerships, brand strategy and major collaborations with brands such as Aston Martin, Evian and Beats. He led the development of a scouting intelligence platform that helped recruit top tennis talent and played a key role in establishing Nike’s sports analytics division.
Before Nike, he was Global Business Director at Wilson Sporting Goods, managing the global tennis product portfolio and grassroots market strategy, and served as European Marketing and National Sales Director at Amer Sports, driving regional strategy and business development.
Massimo began his career as a professional tennis player who reached an ATP world ranking of No. 255.
