Will McDonough is a Senior Advisor at RedBird Capital Partners.
As an investor and entrepreneur, Will brings deep expertise across a range of industries—from alternative asset management, the world of professional sports, to talent management for prominent individuals and athletes. Over the course of his career, Will has led investments in diverse sectors spanning financial services, consumer goods, social media, technology, and natural resources, guiding companies from early-stage funding through to successful exits/IPOs.
Prior to joining RedBird, Will previously served as CEO & Founder at EMG Advisors, a private equity firm specializing in natural resources, where he spearheaded the listing of the firm’s inaugural energy ETF on the New York Stock Exchange (CHRG).
Prior to EMG Advisors, Will served as Co-founder & Vice Chairman at Valkyrie, an alternative asset management firm specializing in blockchain and digital assets. At Valkyrie, Will launched a digital asset hedge fund and listed Nasdaq’s first Bitcoin ETF (BTF). Before Valkyrie, Will co-founded and led the IPO of Atlas Mara (ATMA), a SPAC focused on African banks which was listed for $825mm on the London Stock Exchange. In addition, Will’s tenure included serving in Goldman Sachs’ Investment Management Division, where his team managed more than $17 billion in private capital of the firm’s current and retired partners, and co-founding a $250 million distressed debt fund of funds for Avenue Capital Group.
Will began his career in professional sports, where he worked for the Kraft Group and the New England Patriots from 1997-2008. During this time, Will founded MMG, a management company which has represented the licensing and partnership interests of prominent individuals and estates across Sports, Media and Entertainment, from Tom Brady to the Estate for Nelson Mandela.
Currently, Will is the Chairman and Founder of Corestone Capital, a merchant bank which invests across sports, entertainment, financial services, consumer goods, and technology.
Will received a B.S. in Marketing and Pre-Law from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
